New Music Partnership for RNCM and OEM


The Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) and One Education Music (OEM) are delighted to announce a new partnership aimed at enhancing the quality of music-making in Manchester.

Starting in October 2011, the partnership will provide opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to engage in music, drawing communities and neighbourhoods together to make a positive impact on life in the City.

Professor Linda Merrick, Vice-Principal of the RNCM, says: 'The partnership between the Royal Northern College of Music and One Education reflects a shared aspiration to enhance the opportunities available to young musicians across the City, irrespective of their background.

'Working together, we are ideally placed to deliver a unique programme of professional development that will support the recruitment and retention of a high quality teaching workforce in the City, encouraging today's music students to stay and share their passion for music with future generations.'

Kieran McDermott, Chief Executive of One Education Ltd, says: 'We are very excited about the wide range of activities we will be able to provide, and the coherent pathways we will be able to offer to enable Manchester's gifted and talented to fulfil their potential.

'Working collaboratively with an internationally acclaimed conservatoire will enable schools to benefit from affordable support of the highest quality and to meet their aspirations for music education.'

The RNCM and OEM are recognised as leading providers of music and training. Over the next five years they will work together on a series of projects, including the launch of a new RNCM/OEM Youth Training Orchestra, led by OEM staff with RNCM conducting students for musicians Grade 3 – 6 standard, and a major collaborative music project based on the theme of Manchester to be held at the Bridgewater Hall in 2015.
